All-American Soap Box Derby


This display appealed to the appealed to minors. On display was a racer that won one of the greatest of boy’s classics along with pictures of "Derby Day" in Akron, Ohio.

Chevrolet was a big sponsor and supporter of the Soap Box Derby event that began as a recreational activity for three boys back in 1933. Promoted by a local newspaper they ran their first event with 362 entries and 40,000 spectators in August of that same year.
